Shopy 101 Terms of Use
Last updated: 6 September 2026
1. WHO WE ARE
Shopy 101 is operated by SHOPY 101 LTD, company number 16388100, registered in England and Wales.
Registered address: Suite 8953, 5 Brayford Square, London, E1 0SG, United Kingdom
Contact: help@shopy101.com
Publishing these details is a legal requirement.
These terms cover both the Shopy 101 mobile app and the website at shopy101.com. By using either you accept these terms; if you do not accept them, do not use them.
2. WHAT SHOPY 101 IS
Shopy 101 offers two things together:
a) A FREE CATALOGUE. Public-domain and openly licensed works: books, audiobooks, films, music, photographs, artworks, fonts and university textbooks. Sources include Project Gutenberg, LibriVox, Wikisource, Wikibooks, OpenStax, NASA, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Internet Archive and Google Fonts. All of this is free and will not be put behind a paywall.
b) SELLER PRODUCTS. Digital products uploaded by third-party sellers. Some of these are paid.
Paid and free items are clearly separated in the app. A product's price is shown on the product card and on the product page before you buy.
3. SHOPY 101 IS AN INTERMEDIARY, NOT THE SELLER
For seller products, the contract of sale is between YOU AND THE SELLER. Shopy 101 is not a party to it; we take payment, provide the delivery infrastructure and mediate disputes.
This does not mean we accept no responsibility: we are responsible for platform failures, for the payments we collect and for the processes we run.
The seller's name is shown on every product page. You may request the seller's identity and contact details; for a legal claim, write to help@shopy101.com.
4. YOUR ACCOUNT
- An account is needed for your library, reading progress, favourites and purchases.
- You must be at least 18, or of legal age in your country.
- One person, one account. Keeping your credentials safe is your responsibility.
- You can delete your account at any time: Profile → Delete account.
5. HOW YOU MAY USE THE FREE CATALOGUE
Catalogue works are public domain or openly licensed. You may read, download and share them freely. Licences differ per work and are stated in each product's description:
- Public domain: no restrictions.
- CC0: no restrictions.
- CC BY: you must credit the source.
- CC BY-SA: you must credit the source and share derivative works under the same licence.
- SIL Open Font License / Apache: commercial use permitted. IMPORTANT: an OFL font may NOT be sold on its own.
The app's own design, code, text and brand are not public domain and belong to SHOPY 101 LTD.
We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the app for personal purposes. This licence covers the app itself; the licences of the catalogue works are set out above and are not restricted by it.
ACCEPTABLE USE. The following are prohibited:
- Reverse engineering, decompiling or modifying the app
- Unauthorised automated data collection (scraping), bulk downloading, or overloading our servers
- Circumventing security measures or attempting to access other users' accounts
- Creating fake accounts, misrepresenting your identity, or fraud
- Republishing catalogue content together with our branding as if it were your own service
We close accounts that break these rules and will take legal action where necessary.
6. PAYMENTS
- Prices are in US dollars (USD).
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
- A platform commission is deducted from each sale; the remainder goes to the seller. The rate is stated in the seller agreement.
- Your bank or payment provider may apply currency conversion or transaction fees; those are between you and them.
7. DELIVERY, RIGHT TO CANCEL AND REFUNDS
For digital products, delivery happens the moment payment is confirmed: the item is added to your library and can be downloaded immediately.
RIGHT TO CANCEL. Distance sales normally carry a 14-day right to cancel. For digital content that right ENDS once delivery has begun WITH YOUR EXPRESS CONSENT.
That is why the checkout screen asks you to confirm two things separately:
a) that you want the content delivered immediately, and
b) that you understand you lose your right to cancel once delivery begins.
The purchase cannot be completed without both confirmations. Once given and the product delivered, the right to cancel is lost.
FAULTY PRODUCTS. Losing the right to cancel does not remove your rights if the product is FAULTY. If digital content you bought:
- is not as described,
- is not of satisfactory quality,
- is not fit for its purpose,
- or will not open, or is incomplete,
you may ask for a repair, a replacement, a price reduction or a refund. These rights come from law and cannot be signed away.
Write to help@shopy101.com first. We pass the claim to the seller and follow it up. If it is not resolved, we may refund you ourselves and deduct the amount from the seller's balance.
8. CONTENT RULES AND REVIEW
Every seller upload passes an automated pre-publication review looking for suspected copyright infringement, illegal content and misleading descriptions.
This review is not perfect. A product being live does not mean Shopy 101 has verified it.
If you believe a product infringes your rights, report it to help@shopy101.com. We will review your report, remove the product where appropriate, and give both you and the seller a reasoned response. The seller has a right to appeal that decision.
9. REVIEWS
Reviews you write are shown publicly with your display name.
Fake reviews are prohibited: reviewing a product you did not buy, being paid or otherwise rewarded to write a review, reviewing your own product, or arranging for someone else to do any of these. Accounts that break this rule are closed.
We remove reviews that are unlawful, abusive, hateful or that expose someone's personal information.
10. SUSPENSION AND CLOSURE
We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, disrupt the service or are used unlawfully. If we suspend you, we will tell you why and you may appeal. Except in urgent and serious cases (illegal content, fraud) we will warn you before suspending.
11. LIABILITY
The app is provided as is and we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Catalogue content is fetched from external archives; when those services are unavailable, some works may temporarily fail to open.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death, personal injury, fraud, or your statutory consumer rights.
12. CHANGES
We may update these terms. For a material change we will notify you in the app at least 15 days before it takes effect. If you are a seller, you may terminate during that period and request your accrued balance.
13. GOVERNING LAW
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. However, if the consumer law of your country gives you stronger rights, those rights are preserved and you may bring proceedings before the courts and consumer bodies of your own country.
