At Launch Pad 39-B, a Safety Egress trainer explains the use of the slidewire basket system for emergency egress before launch to STS-95 crew members (left to right) Pilot Steven W. Lindsey, Payload Specialists John H. Glenn Jr., senator from Ohio, and Chiaki Mukai, representing the National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA), and Mission Specialist Pedro Duque of Spain, representing the European Space Agency. The STS-95 crew are at KSC to participate in a Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test (TCDT) which includes mission familiarization activities, emergency egress training, and a simulated main engine cut-off exercise.
