Astronaut Judy Resnik visits the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Lewis Research Center on July 18, 1979, the tenth anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission. The event, sponsored by the center’s Public Information Office, was attended by Lewis staff, Cleveland-area media and personalities, and the public. During her time in Cleveland, Resnik appeared on a local television program, gave a press conference, lunched with NASA officials, addressed employees at Lewis, and then met the public at the center’s Visitors Information Center. Resnik related her recent experiences as one of the first US female astronauts and her duties as a mission specialist. The Akron, Ohio native earne — NASA GRC · 1979.
