The concert hall is a central building on the Gendarmenmarkt. The classical building is one of the major works of the architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. It was opened in 1821 as the Royal Playhouse and was from 1919 to 1945 Prussian State Theatre. In 1994, it was named "Konzerthaus Berlin".
