Wild bearded vulture ( Gypaetus barbatus ) in flight searching for food and finding a piece of carcass. Completely eradicated from the Alps at the beginning of the 20th century, this large predator has gradually been reintroduced in Europe. The bearded vulture feeds on the bones of dead animals, helping to reduce the spread of diseases in the wild. The Aiguilles Rouges d'Arolla can be seen in the background (the mountain with two spikes on the left) as well as the Daubenhorn (the closest mountain on the right). Image set number 4 out of 5.
